It's Shoebox Time!
Here are just a few of the things that we managed to stuff into a plastic storage container. Ummm . . . the peanuts had to stay here. No food allowed! I like the plastic boxes better than shoeboxes for obvious reasons: last longer, waterproof, keep out bugs, etc. The other reason is that I never have shoeboxes around when I need them! I also take the items out of their packages and send them in Zip-Locks if necessary. No waste (they tend to burn trash which is not always a healthy choice) and it's another item that can be used for storage.
We picked a boy between the ages of 5-9. I asked my boys what they thought he would like, and I hope somewhere, deep inside, this will start to make a difference in their hearts, way of thinking, etc. Sometimes it is hard as their eyes turn a green with envy, but it really is a fun project to do together.
If you don't have a church home, please visit the Samaritans Purse website for a drop off location. If making a box is not your bag, you can sponsor one for however much you would like to donate.
