Just typed a whole post, the computer froze, and poof! GONE! I thought Blogger would auto save. Bummer.
We're still here. Life is just busy, busy, busy. How people can blog everyday, AND keep their house clean, AND keep their kids happy, AND take all sorts of great photos is just beyond me. I just don't have it in me. Oh well!
We took off last weekend for a night at Smokies at the Wilderness. Treats like this are rare because vacationing as a family of six is just so pricey. We do our best to cut costs by packing as many of our own meals and snacks as possible, traveling during off seasons, etc., but no matter how you cut it, it's still a nice chunk of change.
It was great to get away and be in a place where your only "must-do" is to have fun.
Braving the wave runner, surfing, thingie.
The waterpark was noisy, and James wanted to spend most of the time hiding in his Daddy's arms.
He did, however, become brave about ten minutes before it was time to go, and then it was quite the scene to get him to leave. The terrible two's are not that far away!
Dave is working this weekend so I'm back in single mom mode. It's funny how prior to this deployment, I dreaded drill weekends. Saturday and Sunday seemed to drag by, and I was constantly looking at the clock, hoping to see him before 7:00 PM. Yesterday, after a wonderful day outside in the sunshine, I finally looked at my watch, it was 5:30 PM, and I was wondering "My gosh! Where has our day gone? We've been having such a nice time!" No more clock watching, waiting impatiently, getting grumpy as it gets later and later. We do better with him, but we can do nicely without him as well. I've learned that as busy and unpredictable military life can be, the show can go on, with or without Hubby/Daddy. Most importantly, I can do this now with a smile instead of a disgruntled spirit. This may not seem like a big deal to most, but for me, this is a huge accomplishment.
This is short, but the showering is calling and church is soon to be starting. Hope you're having a nice weekend, and getting some of this sunshine that we have been enjoying.

I know what you mean about the vacations. I've been calculating and figuring that with a family of four, are we EVER going to fly anywhere ever again? Very pricey! LOL
So glad you were able to use the deployment as a growth period and you are now stronger and happier as a mom afterward.
I hope you've recovered well from your surgery!
And about blogging and keeping up with other things--all those days you see me blogging, I am NOT cleaning my house!! LOL
Had to stop over from the Blog Frog and say hello to a fellow L&D nurse!
Poop during delivery...if only people realized it really isn't a big deal! (Loved your "nugget", btw!!)
i can not post daily and if i do it is short and un edited. i never take the time to photo shop a picture. sometimes on sunday night i will set and write a bunch and have them ready to post during the week
I saw that you had earlier asked how my life was with a boy--well, all those rumors about how boys are easier? I think they're right! After 2 months I can already tell. Even with his special need, he is still less complicated!!! LOL
But I wouldn't trade my complicated little girl for the world, of course!
I love the pictures!
I think it's wonderful that you are now able to manage the drill weekends. That must make those days much better for you and the kids.
