Ouch

I have mastitis.

Boob is hot, swollen, and hurts in a way that I never knew was possible.

Besides antibiotics and warm compresses, does anyone have advice that will help with the healing process?

I

can't

be

sick.

Nurse, nurse, nurse and nurse some more. Oh Tylenol and my choice of heat...a heating pad. Make sure babies nose is directed toward the pain, it's going to hurt like crazy to nurse on that breast, but trust me (from a woman who went through mastitis multiple times with Jackson and once with Emma) it WILL be worth the pain of nursing and will help end the suffering. Oh you can also pump inbetween nursing sessions. Anything to pull the infection out is what I was told by my ob and lactation consultants.

I personally found that nursing and the heating pad to be my best defense against it. Oh and how could I have forgotten, HOT showers. If you have a shower head that is removable...remove that sucker and place it right over your breast and let the hot water help draw the milk and infection out of your breast.

I'm praying for you. I truly empathize with you on this absolute awful pain and that you can't be sick. Ironically Chad was deployed when I dealt with this with both Jack and Emma.
