Wednesday night I started having contractions that were uncomfortable, enough so that I started to feel the mild panic that sets in when you realize "This is it!" I figured the best thing to do was to rest and try to get some sleep. You can imagine my disappointment when I woke up at 2:00 AM and all was quiet.

So I waddled into my OB apt yesterday and asked him to check me, feeling certain that something was beginning to take place. As soon as he started the your-cervix-is-still-in-the-clouds climb, I knew it wasn't going to be good. "Ummm . . . you're still a little posterior, pretty thick, and 1 cm".

I promptly told him to get out of my vagina and sat up in disgust. At this point, I really expected more, especially after Wednesday night.

He wants to induce me in about ten days, but unless things make a drastic change, I know I'm walking into what could be a looooooonnnnng labor and a potential C-Section for little progress. I'd rather go overdue than subject myself to that.

So I'm searching today for things to help ripen the ol' cervix, and preferably not cause major intestinal cramping. I've seen too many women come in, totally miserable, delivering nothing but diarrhea and begging for relief. Your thoughts are welcome!

Sorry but I've got nothing for you.

With Kid L I had contractions for about an hour one time. Induced at 42 weeks.

With NSBH I didn't have a single one. Induced at 42 weeks.

With Nonami I became hopeful after 13 hours of contractions. They did nothing but get me to 1cm. Induced at 39 1/2 weeks.

My body can get pregnant at the drop of a hat but then it wants to keep them inside me forever.

A good prenatal massage where the masseuse knows the pressure points to help induce labor.

Ah- I hope you've had a productive weekend! What helped me was youknowwhat in the bedroom and a 9 month chiropractor visit. I am due any day now, too!

Maybe you don't need this by now...but evening primrose oil applied directly to the cervix is supposed to help.
