I knew there would come a day when I would forget, and last night was it.

A tooth, lost at the last minute before bed.

A long weekend. Really tired.

Put the kids in bed, came downstairs, turned off the lights, and climbed into bed myself.

Forgot all about the fairy I was supposed to be until this morning, when my son jumped out of bed, wondering "What did she bring me!?!?"

Whoops.

Have you ever had to come up with an on the spot excuse as to why the Tooth Fairy has failed?

Not a good way to start Monday morning.

When my mom would forget she would always tell me to wait in the living room while she went to "find" it in my bedroom. After a little bit of rustling around in my room, with a little sidetrack to her bedroom to get the money from her wallet, she would present it to me with great flourish and fanfare. I never suspected a thing. She only told me her secret a few years ago.

I actually had this happen with Jacob's last tooth he lost and the first night she forgot that morning, he'd actually put his tooth elsewhere, so I said "maybe she couldn't find it, and said I'd "call her" lol. So I did and told her it would be under his pillow, yeah well guess who forgot AGAIN! Yes 2 nights in a row! He spent the night the following night, so the mom had to play tooth fairy, but she finally made it there!!

Oh my gosh, I thought I was the only one! My daughter recently lost her sixth tooth. I was so good about the other five, but on this particular night I was exhausted and had been tending to my almost 3 month old daughter all day and night. I just spaced it. She woke in the morning and said "My tooth is still here". UGHHHH, what a horrible feeling I had. So, I told her to go look around to see if the money had been left somewhere else. Meanwhile, I put the bill under her pillow, she came into the room, saw me "find" it, and (almost) all was well. I still had a hard time explaining why the tooth was still around. I just told her that the tooth fairy must not have had any more room to carry it. Oh dear.

We are mean parents whose kids know who santa and the tooth fairy is, so this makes it worth. they wake up and say DAD or MOM you forgot to leave me something. they even say toothfairy to make us feel bad
