School time already?

School starts tomorrow. Where has the summer gone and, most importantly, when did my two "babies" become old enough to go to school full-time? It's a reminder to me that no matter how crazy it is, I really need to slow down and enjoy life, this last pregnancy, etc. I feel like so much of the day disappears before I know it, my head buried in laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc.

It truly seems like yesterday that we were rejoicing about summer starting; the long days at the pool, later bedtimes, playing for hours with friends, etc., and now we are watching the clock again for bedtime, making certain we have something for lunches and snacks, and gearing up for the homework that will be arriving throughout week. Pencils are sharpened, backpacks are clean, first day of school outfits have been carefully chosen, and I'm getting ready to set the alarm for the first time in months. I've got those "first day of school" butterflies as well, where being a mother you hope everything goes well, they make it to the right classroom, everyone is nice to them, and they come home excited about returning the next day.

Here's to a successful tomorrow and an excellent school year!

I woke up early and looked at the clock thinking that you were probably doing the same thing. Kids would be amazed to know that we are as excited as they are about the first day. So many memories of your first day flood back and it seems like yesterday when we put you on the bus for the first time. Little faces all peeking out the window waving goodbye. Enjoy the moment and take lots of pictures for us. It is kind of ironic that I was expecting Betsy in September and kept saying I'll get baby things in order after I get Amy all settled in school. You know how that turned out..put you on the bus and went and had Betsy. So how are you feeling right now? Ha wouldn't that be something? Wishing you all a wonderful, happy and productive school year. Love Nannie and Papa

Best wishes for a great start to the new year!

I am amazed at how quickly summer flew by. I would love to have the Memorial Day to Labor Day summer back.
