You're the Birthday Woman!

These were the sweet words out of my son's mouth after my husband announced "Here comes the birthday girl!" Apparently my oldest knows that I'm "over the hill" and therefore corrected my husband quite nicely. "She's too old to be a girl Dad!" He then proceeded to tell me every age I am going to be until " That's so old I can't count that high".

My hubby makes me a cake every year. He's now to the point where he has eager helpers. He made a mistake and doubled the cake mix, thinking he needed two boxes to make a double layer cake. We still have three cake pans left of birthday cake! The best part was that each child got to decorate their own cake for me! Talk about a great way to bring peace!

My hubby also likes to make me a fancy breakfast. He is so thoughtful, more so than I am when it comes to special days.

After dinner the kids were outside and I told hubby that I wanted to sneak upstairs and take a bath. I was going to toss in some bubbles and do something "fancy" to my face. I had just settled in when . . .

the squirrels arrived and jumped in. It never fails! They must have a six sense as to when I'm trying to relax!

I know some of you may look at the bath picture and think "Ewwww. I can't believe she is naked in front of her kids. I can assure that everything is fine, normal, etc., and that I'm not some weirdo. I figure it won't be long before this will gross them out, and this photo will become quite a source of embarrassment!

What amazes me about birthdays is that it seems like I had one just the other day! Time is flying by. I love birthdays, celebrating anniversaries, etc., but as I get older, it also comes with an ounce of sadness. I love my life, and often I wish to stop the hands of time and love my kids where they are now, for years at a time. It's all going by so fast, and I don't want it to ever end.
