The Money Pit

We've landed in the money pit.

Wait. Let me clarify what I mean by "we". We is not only my family, but all the ants in Tennessee. We are all snug together, toasty warm (the A/C is not working properly) in the money pit.

It's noon and I have not cried yet today. We are making progress.

I'm trying to keep my chin up, but it's hard when you walk into a home that was presented in a different light. Quick fixes with duct tape (in the toilet of all places) is not what I was planning on working with. Shades hung with hooks rather than brackets (you can't pull them up or down so take your pick), water leaking through the ceiling, and a cut cable wire are just a few of the joys that I plan to tackle this afternoon. I know. Our rental agency should be doing this, but we've been waiting for almost a week and I'm fed up, especially with the leaking water. I'm worried about mold. Have any of you had issues with mold in your home?

My low day was Friday, the first day of school for my oldest. I had just gotten out of the shower when I heard my cell phone ring.
"Is this Mrs Amy?"

"Yes it is".

"Well this is the Middle School and your son is here. He got off at the wrong school. You need to come and get him and take him to the primary school".

Panic. Absolute panic set in as I wanted to get to my son as soon as possible. It was 8:05 and he had been at the school, trying to find his "first grade frog room" for 35 minutes. Forget the panic. I was mad. How did this happen? Who keeps track of the kids who are on the bus?

We got to my son who was in better shape than I was at that point. While we road to the primary school he kept asking "Do I have to go, Mom? I'm scared!" Like a typical Mom I was all smiles. "it's ok" on the outside while on the inside I was screaming "I don't blame you at all!!"

My mom called today to remind me of the "one room at a time" motto that movers tend to adopt fairly quickly. I need to keep my focus and remember that it won't look like this forever . . . hopefully. It's hard when you are the only one that cares about "your" home. Our rental agency could care less about this place, which is a shame. It's a beautiful home that has not been taken care of.

Do you have any moving horrors that you can share with me? Please do! I could use a laugh!

Oh my, you poor girl! I think I would be a flood of tears by this point! Hugs coming your way! Ahh, and poor David, how scary is that for a child that age!

The only real horror place is when we were building about 5 years ago. We had to rent a dingy duplex because that was the only place that would take a short-term lease and 2 dogs. We were actually in the basement of a split-level house and they used lemon scented cleaner to cover up cat pee stains. It was really dingy and we were there for 3 months. Hang in there and hugs and love to you all!

I am so sorry! I don't blame you for feeling the way you do. I would too if I were you. I really hope that you're able to get the rental agency to help you out. I still don't understand why people work for and run places if they don't like doing their jobs?! Good luck!!!
